100 Central African Republic Stamps

This former French colony was once known as Ubangi-Shari.  In 1969 it became the fully independent nation of the Central African Republic.
When military leader Jean-Bedel Bokassa declared himself emperor in 1976, the country’s name was changed to the Central African Empire.  Political order was restored in 1979 and the name was changed back to the Central African Republic.
