Confederate States Coupon Loan Certificate Can Be Yours
This is an 1863 Confederate States of America Loan Certificate in the amount of $1,000. Filled out per the Act of March 23, 1863, it’s hand numbered 5882 out of a total 6,400 printed. Each of the coupons at the bottom is individually dated for the date on which the purchaser could cash it in for $30. Once all the coupons had been clipped and exchanged (April 1, 1893), the purchaser could have exchanged the certificate for $1,000.
The certificate pictures the Richmond Custom House at the top center and has seven coupons still attached. Signed by Tyler, while most examples are signed by Rose.
