Own Striking 1963 $5 Legal Tender Note
From the Final “Red Seal” Issue
You don’t see $5 bills like this in your wallet these days. It’s a 1963 legal tender note with a distinctive red US Treasury seal and serial numbers. The red seal design was used on the 1928, 1953, and 1963 $5 legal tender notes. This was the last time the $5 bill carried a red seal. It was replaced by Federal Reserve Notes, which have green seals and serial numbers. Includes the signature of the US Treasurer Kathryn O’Hay Granahan and Treasury Secretary C. Douglas Dillon.
