Get Beautifully Engraved CIPEX Poster Stamps

These four poster stamps were only available at the Centenary International Philatelic Exhibition (CIPEX), which ran from May 17-25, 1947.  CIPEX was a celebration of the 100th anniversary of America’s first postage stamps.  The poster stamps were printed by the American Bank Note Company, displaying their high-quality printing.  The sets of four were sold for 10¢ by the Executive Secretary of the Exhibition.

The poster stamps pay tribute to the first four countries to issue postage stamps.  Pictured are Emperor Dom Pedro II of Brazil, Great Britain’s Queen Victoria, and US President James K. Polk.  They were each their country’s leader when it issued its first stamps.  The Switzerland Coat of Arms is also pictured, as it issued its first postage stamps in 1843.

These poster stamps will make a great addition to your US or worldwide collection and a perfect companion to the 1947 US Postage Stamp Centenary (#947) and the 1947 CIPEX souvenir sheet (#948).  Order yours now.
