Disney Celebrates the Year of the Dog

February 10, 1994 marked the start of the Year of the Dog in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.  To celebrate this, Gambia issued this set of 12 stamps picturing different Disney dogs. 

Each single stamp features a whimsical gold-colored border of dog-related items, including bones and doghouses.  Stamps also feature the Chinese characters for the Year of the Dog.  Pictured on the stamps are Disney dogs from different books, comics, and cartoons.  These include:

    • Pluto the Racer (1934-35)
    • Fifi (1933)
    • Pluto, Jr. (1942)
    • Toliver (1936)
    • Ronnie (1946)
    • Primo (1950)
    • Pluto's kid brother (1946)
    • The Army Mascot (1942)
    • Pluto and Dinah's pups (1942)
    • Bent Tail Junior (1949)
