$20.00

Choose Option:

Own 50 Different Stamps from Countries No Longer in Existence

The 50 mint and used stamps in this collection were issued by Dead Countries – those that no longer exist. They reflect the shift from empires and colonies to independence and self-rule. Stamps from these countries are fun to collect. They give you an insider’s view into each former country’s history.

Some of the stamps in the collection I looked through were issued in the Belgian Congo, which was a colony in Central Africa from 1908 to 1960. After it gained its independence, it became the Republic of Congo. Other stamps were issued in Africa Orientale Italiana, or Italian East Africa. Located on the Horn of Africa, it was ruled by Fascist Italy from 1936 to 1941. When Italy was defeated during World War II, the region was put under British administration. In the following decades, the independent countries of Ethiopia, Somalia, and Eritrea were formed from the former Italian colony.

Other "dead" countries included in this collection include Czechoslovakia, Ajman, Inini, Leeward Islands, Zanzibar, Ceylon...and many, many others!

These dead countries are just a sample of the many you’ll explore as you sort through these stamps. They’ll give you a jumpstart on a new collection or make a neat addition to your existing collection. Order your Dead Country stamps today.
