This mint sheet includes four stamp designs honoring the Alpine Troops of the Italian Army during World War I.  The stamps include vintage black and white photographs as well as original artwork.  The selvage includes a larger image of a mountain and the silhouettes of a group of soldiers.  A paragraph in the selvage reads "Due to the unique terrain of the front, the Alpini possessed special skills such as skiing and climbing.  They carved out mountain passes and dug tunnels for shelter and defense.  They moved their equipment by cable car or by mule."  These stamps are pieces of history.  Get them in your collection today.
