These stamps were the first US issues to be printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Since that time, categories have been added to the list of those needed to have these special tax stamps. Some examples of these are Retail or Wholesale Liquor Dealer, Manufacturer of Stills, Manufacturer of Opium, and manufacturer of Process or Renovated Butter. Businesses such as bowling alleys and billiard rooms also had to obtain these stamps.
