History the stamp represents:  In 2026, America turned 250. To mark the occasion, the US Postal Service sought the talents of one of the country’s most celebrated designers. Ralph Lauren was born in the Bronx, the son of immigrant parents, and built one of the most recognized American brands in the world. He has spent his career insisting that American style is not about fashion. It is about identity, memory, and the things worth holding onto.
When asked to curate a collection of stamps representing the American spirit, Lauren reached into his personal archive and pulled out the things he has always loved most about this country. What he chose tells a story. A baseball glove used by Jackie Robinson, who stepped onto a Brooklyn field in 1947 and changed America forever. A Diné blanket woven by Naiomi Glasses, a seventh-generation weaver whose family has carried that tradition for centuries. A knitted flag recalling the colonial women who took up their needles as an act of patriotism. A lighthouse blown up by Confederate troops, rebuilt, and still standing. A hamburger, somehow never on a stamp before this one.
In 1998, Lauren donated $13 million to save the original Star-Spangled Banner from deterioration at the Smithsonian Institution. “I am a product of the American dream,” he said, “and the flag is its symbol.” These thirteen stamps are his answer to the question of what this country is made of. Not monuments or politicians, but barns and baseball gloves, lighthouses and mustangs, a knitted flag and a well-worn truck. The soul of America.
