Own a genuine Bank Check issued shortly after the Civil War.  It prominently displays the issuing financial institution.  Bank checks were a convenient way to make large transactions without carrying heavy coins.  The customer would deposit the money in the bank, then the bank would issue a check as proof the funds were there.  In order to prevent counterfeiting, this check has an orange image of George Washington.  The two-cent denomination is proof of the payment of a Revenue Tax required for each bank check.
