Own Limited-Edition Discovery STS-120 Silk Cover with Official Medal

Produced by Colorano, this cover honors Space Shuttle Discovery’s 34th mission, STS-120.  It highlights the launch of the shuttle and includes a commemorative medal.

Popular Colorano covers feature “silk” cachets that are produced through a special screening process and then bonded to the envelope.  The cachet pictures the launch of STS-116 surrounded by a golden border.  The covers bear a patriotic US stamp and cancellation marking the launch date.

The bronze medal bears an image of the mission patch.  Discovery is in the center of the image with the Harmony module in its payload.  The International Space Station is represented by the star on the left.  The circles on the right symbolize the Moon and Mars, future destinations for NASA’s space program.  The last names of the crew members are along the edge of the patch.

STS-120 was launched on October 23,2007, and returned to Earth on November 7.  During its 15-day mission, it flew to the International Space Station, where it delivered and installed the Italian-built   Harmony module.  The crew also relocated a truss segment on the station and its solar arrays.
