Own Limited-Edition Columbia STS-80 Silk Covers

Produced by Colorano, this set of six covers honors the important moments from the Space Shuttle Columbia’s 21st mission, STS-80 (the 80th mission of the Space Shuttle program).

These popular Colorano covers feature “silk” cachets that are produced through a special screening process and then bonded to the envelope.  Each cachet pictures a photo from the mission and is surrounded by a golden border.  The covers bear patriotic US stamps and cancellations relating to events from the mission.  You can discover the story behind each one with the informative captions next to the cachets.

Launched on November 19, 1996, STS-80 was the longest Shuttle mission in history, lasting over 17 days.  During the flight, two satellites were deployed then retrieved after completing their tasks.  Astronaut Story Musgrave became the only person to fly on all five Space Shuttle.  After a two -day delay because of weather, the mission came to an end on December 7.
