Produced by Colorano, this cover honors the return of the Space Shuttle Columbia’s 21st mission, STS-80 (the 80th mission of the Space Shuttle program). 

Popular Colorano covers feature “silk” cachets that are produced through a special screening process and then bonded to the envelope.  The cachet pictures the in-flight photo of the crew and is surrounded by a golden border.  The cover bears a patriotic US stamp and cancellation marking the end of the mission.  You can discover the story behind each one with the informative captions next to the cachets.

Launched on November 19, 1996, STS-80 was the longest Shuttle mission in history, lasting over 17 days.  During the flight, two satellites were deployed then retrieved after completing their tasks.  Astronaut Story Musgrave became the only person to fly on all five Space Shuttle.  After a two-day delay because of weather, the mission came to an end on December 7.
