On October 20, 2005, the UNPA issued a set of six commemorative stamps on “Food for Life.” The UN, through its agency the World Food Programme (WFP), saves lives in emergencies and improves the nutrition of the world’s most vulnerable people. The WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency. It provides food to about 90 million people in more than 80 countries.
