UNCTAD is a permanent intergovernmental body charged with accelerating economic growth, particularly in developing countries. It is the General Assembly’s principal organ concerned with trade and development and works in diverse areas such as ship registries, information and technology transfers, tariff concessions, and guidelines for debt rescheduling. The executive body of UNCTAD deals with the international implications of economic policies and with problems and issues in trade and finance.
