To usher in the holiday season, the Postal Service issued four contemporary stamps featuring colorful renditions of antique toys. A pony and rider, a locomotive, a steam engine, and a steamship are reminiscent of toys of the 1800s.
Printing by two different companies resulted in two distinct varieties. The sheet version of the stamp was printed by offset-lithography by Ashton-Potter America, Inc., while the manufacturing of the booklet stamps was contracted to the American Bank Note Company.
