Are You Missing the 1945 Armed Forces Stamps?

This is your chance to get all six 1945 Armed Forces stamps in one convenient set. These stamps were issued shortly after World War II to honor all those who served. The set includes:

US #929 Marines/Iwo Jima This stamp pictures the Marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. Initially, the stamp was controversial because it would picture living people. But postal officials explained that the stamp honored the Marines’ fighting spirit, not specific individuals. It went on to become the most popular commemorative of the time.

US #934 Army The stamp pictures a procession of troops in front of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris as six bombers pass overhead. Over 8 million servicemen served in the Army during the war, with over 318,000 of them giving their lives for the cause of freedom.

US #935 Navy The stamp pictures a group of sailors in their summer uniforms. The US Navy was instrumental in the Allies victory, especially in the Pacific Theater. In the Pacific, the Navy took out several Japanese bases, weakened their defenses, and ultimately was significant in winning the war.

US #936 Coast Guard The stamp pictures two coast guard landing crafts with a supply ship in the background. During World War II, the US Coast Guard served as a specialized branch of the US Navy. It was responsible for stowing dangerous cargo, protecting ships and ports, and establishing beach-landing methods.

US #939 Merchant Marine The stamp pictures a liberty ship unloading cargo. The US Merchant Marine provided one of the largest merchant fleets of the war and has been credited as one of the most significant contributions of any nation during the conflict. Unfortunately, they also had the highest casualty rate of any service, with 1 in 26 losing their lives.

US #940 Veterans of World War II This stamp honors all those who served in World War II and pictures the Honorable Discharge Emblem. The five stars surrounding the emblem honor those who died in each of the five services Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines, and Merchant Marines.

These stamps are fitting tributes to our World War II veterans. Get the complete set today in one convenient order.
