Own This Boyd’s City Express Stamp Forgery – A Neat Piece of Postal History
Boyd’s City Express was one of America’s first local posts. Established in 1844, owner John Boyd provided mail delivery services in New York City. In the days before the US Post Office made deliveries, private companies, like Boyd’s filled the need.
Beginning in 1844, John Boyd had stamps printed to show proof of payment. He chose an eagle on a globe. The stamps were available where his collection boxes were placed, such as at hotels or drug stores.
With the popularity of Boyd’s service and the convenience of prepaid stamps came forgeries. The sheet of 42 stamps in this offer is a forgery of stamps issued in 1860, when Boyd’s City Express was bought by the Blackham family.
This sheet of unused stamps is a neat piece of postal history. They are a reminder of a time before the Post Office delivered to every home in America. This sheet of forgery stamps would make the perfect addition to your forgery or private express collection. Place your order today, before this piece of history is snatched up by someone else.
